Your accommodation will be based at Surya Lagoon Guesthouse, which is situated on the East Coast. Built on what was once a coconut plantation, today the house provides intimate accommodation for guests, with just four bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. It’s just a
ten-minute walk from the beach, but if you want to stay around the house, there’s a lovely garden, a
small restaurant, and a library. The guesthouse is also environmentally conscious, aiming to
conserve energy using solar panels and recycling.

Day 1: Anurdhapura

Your driver will pick you up in Negombo and you will drive north to ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ever capital. You will spend the morning enjoying the rich and fascinating history of this beautiful city. The ruins of the original city offer incredible architectural and archaeological sights to explore, spanning a thousand years of history, when Anuradhapura was the centre of Sri Lanka. In the afternoon you will continue your journey to Nilaveli and your accommodation at
Surya Lagoon Guesthouse

Day 2: Relax day – Beach

Enjoy the beach and swimming pool at Nilaveli Beach Hotel, only a 10-minute walk from your accommodation. The beach is considered to be one of the best in Sri Lanka, with pristine golden sand and clear waters. At around 4km long, the beach is a delightful place for a stroll, or to swim and relax. You can also spend your time snorkelling or scuba diving, or you could take a short boat ride to Pigeon Island to explore its very own coral reef (activities not included in tour price)

Day 3: Polonaruwa and Sigirya

Get an early start on your third day to make your way to Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka, once a bustling hub for commerce and religion. Spend your time wandering the archaeological park, noting the tombs and temples that survive from when the city was busiest, eight centuries ago. In Polonnaruwa, you are in the perfect place to take a trip to Sigiriya Rock. This rock fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which dates back to the 5th century. Today, you can climb the rock up a steep staircase. In the afternoon you will return to Nilaveli, where you can enjoy some free time

Day 4: Relax day – Beach

Spend another day relaxing at the beach, snorkelling, swimming, sunbathing or eating. You might like to take a trip to visit the oldest Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka, Thiriyaya, which is situated in the
middle of the jungle, just 25 miles (40km) from Nilaveli.

Day 5: Relax day – Beach

Enjoy your last rest day with the activities the beach has to offer, or perhaps by visiting Trincomalee town. Sitting on one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful natural harbours, the historic town has plenty to explore and things to do, from its ancient Shiva temple to the Maritime and Naval History Museum.

Day 6: ​ ​Dambulla​ ​and drop off in kandy

On your last day with us, leave for Kandy and see Dambulla Cave Temple and other interesting places on the way. Another World Heritage Site, the Golden Temple of Dambulla is the most well-preserved example of a cave temple complex in the country. Constructed in the first century BCE, the complex features five caves and a cave monastery that is still in use today. You can also marvel at the golden Buddha statue and pagoda, as well as many other statues and paintings in veneration of Buddha. The tour will end in Kandy, where the driver will bring you to the hotel of
your choice so you can enjoy the rest of your time in Sri Lanka.
